Dinosaur Train Holiday Book & DVD Review and #Giveaway

We’ve been fans of Dinosaur Train since the first episode aired back in 2009. My DVR has more episodes saved of Dinosaur Train then anything me and my Husband have. Mainly because they didn’t have DVD’s out yet to pop in whenever we needed a DT fix. So you can imagine my excitement when the love flowed from other parents enough to create toys, books and DVD’s!

The Emmy nominated and Parent’s Choice Silver Honor TV series is just a great educational program. If you aren’t familiar with the show it can be viewed on the PBS Kids network. Young viewers join Buddy and his adoptive family of Pteranodons on whimsical adventures through prehistoric jungles, swamps, volcanoes and oceans as they unearth basic concepts in natural science, natural history and paleontology. You get the best of both worlds with everything Dinosaurs and everything Trains. Most would say that it’s a little boys dream but I’m hear to tell you that my daughter is probably the biggest fan. She can recite dinosaur species off the top of her head!

One of our favorite episodes is a Holiday special that can be found on the Dinosaurs A to Z DVD. Solstice Time – While visiting the North Pole, the Conductor suggests that the family stop off at Aurora Borealis Station on an enormous frozen lake to see the Aurora Borealis, where the Northern Troodons celebrate a “Festival of Lights.” While the kids wait for night to fall and view the Aurora Borealis, they work up an ice-skating show to entertain Mom and Dad. Everyone joins in to sing “Solstice Time is Here” and skate under the lights! This episode has sparked a wild interest in the Aurora Borealis.

Along with the DVD’s there are also a great line of books. One of which is the Dinosaur Train: Ride the Holiday Train Lift-The-Flap Board Book. It follows the Pteranodon family as they build snow dinosaurs, play a prehistoric game of ice hockey, and meet some new friends. It’s very colorful and has over 45 flaps for your child to open. You get to meet a new dinosaur in this book as well.

Are your kids in love with Dinosaur Train like mine? Pick up the book for $9.99 where ever books are sold or on Amazon. Dinosaurs A to Z is $12.99 or $9.99 on Amazon.
