My Heart Is Bursting with Rainbows

I’m currently on a road trip to visit New Orleans with my husband for the iRetreat conference. My phone gets Twitter notifications from a few top White House officials and the First Lady because I love to see what the White House is working on and pushing for. When I saw the POTUS Tweet my mouth dropped open. I read it to my husband and he immediately want me to check a major news source to see it is as right.

I couldn’t even read it because I was already in tears. Something I have been fighting for among friends and family that are gay has finally passed for equality. It took far to long. I streamed the Presidents speech across my car speakers while crossing into Alabama. A state that was turning couples away.

I took to social media just like everyone else and posted my rainbows of joy. If you were a West Coaster, you woke up to something like this….

I’m a very strong supporter of the separation between church and state. I’m also happy to shy away from religious conversations because everyone is entitled to their beliefs. It’s when your beliefs start making choices for other people, that I have a problem. America is a place for everyone, no matter their religion, to feel safe practicing their beliefs. Even Christians interpret the big book differently. Every Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist, Pagan, Jew, Atheist and Christian is welcome to practice their faith and speak your opinions, but don’t tell others that they are wrong because it’s not what you believe. I mentioned before, there is supposed to be a separation of church and state for the sole purpose that there are many religions present within our borders. Marriage of two people that love each other, never should have been up for debate. So when I see that #LoveWins  I’m crying for joy.

It’s been amazing to see so many history making events take place. I helped elect the first black president, and then keep him in office. See my family be able to get health insurance after far too many years of being without it. The slow legalization of marijuana and now same sex couples around the world are now free to be married, not just “gay married.”

I’m happy that the White House changed their profile picture to a White House made of rainbows. That evening, they also made this picture actually happen when the sun went down last night.

Companies everywhere changed their logos to rainbows and my friends all over social media did the same.      IMG_8747.JPG I’m so happy that so many people feel the same as I do, even christians. That equality is important to them. That they see the amazing change happening around us and that our kids get to grow up in a more modern society of changing views.

Love is Love and on June 26th, 2015 it won across America.

  1. It was pretty amazing news yesterday. I am quietly taking it all in (I’ve never changed a profile pic to follow the crowd, but that doesn’t mean I’m not supportive). I am a proponent of letting people be who they are and butting out. Humans are fallible creatures. We ALL have many things we do “wrong”. Pointing fingers at others’ “wrongdoing” just because it’s a different “wrongdoing” than our own? I’ve never bought that kind of thinking. It’s mean and judgmental and I am thrilled that perhaps we are moving towards a world with a little less mean-spirited judgement. Hooray USA!

I totally agree with this and get out of my bedroom!
