Children’s authors are the best! They write amazing stories for our little ones to read. They create stories and visions for our children to dream about at night. They truly have a gift. My daughter loves to read so we read to her every night. Sometimes a few books. The Eyecare about Reading Book Drive is coming to an end. I’m so happy to share with you the amazing children’s authors that donated their amazing books for this cause.

Local author Angela Muse who wrote a fantastic book we’ve reviewed called The Nutt Family: An Acorny Adventure was thrilled to donate to the cause and help out our local Children’s Hospital of Atlanta. Angela became a mother back in 2003 and loved story telling to her children. In 2009 her first book was published. Angela has a few fantastic books out now including her newest release The Bee Bully. She also wrote The Pig Princess and Lil Glimmer.

Another children’s author Anne Slanina heard about the book drive and sent me a handful of her Annie Mouse Books as well! I especially loved her book Baby Brother Goes to the Hospital. It’s the perfect title to go to the Children’s Hospital. Anne is a professor in Elementary / Early Childhood Education as well as a Mother and Grandmother. Her books also include Annie Mouse Meets a New Friend,  Annie Mouse Meets her Guardian Angel, Where the Rainbow Touches Ground, and Annie Mouse’s Route 66 Adventure: A Photo Journal.

I was also sent books from the following authors that partnered with VSP during this book drive to help spread the word. They sent copies for my girls as well as the book drive.

John Perry – The Book That Eats People

Debbie Diessen - The Pout-Pout Fish (which is one of my daughters new favorites), The Big-Big Dark, The Barefooted, Bad-Tempered Baby Brigade

Cynthia Lord - Rules, Touch Blue, Hotrod Hamster

I am so thankful that these amazing author’s found it in their hearts to donate their fantastic books to such a great book drive. I know the children at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta are going to be so happy about reading them. The book drive has ended and I’m pretty sure Atlanta won by a landslide but I’ll have an update soon!
