I am a 3-Day Blogger. All opinions are my own.
It’s the week of The 3-Day walk, and that means it’s time to check in and start prepping. With so many walkers, The 3-Day makes it easy to check in online and get everything taken care of right in our participant center. The online participant center is a great tool for walkers. You can find some great resources and tips for successful fundraising. In order to check-in online, you’ll need to finish fundraising and have everything sent in.
During the online check-in process, you’ll get to watch a fantastic safety video. I learned a lot from it. Being a first-time walker, I wasn’t aware of some of the health risks and safety concerns. Such as Hyponatremia (low sodium) which is a rare but serious condition that can cause weakness, cramps, swollen hands and feet, confusion, and even seizures. To prevent this from happening, you have to stay hydrated and replenish the sodium you lose during exercise. The 3-Day provides salty snacks, and sports drink that they want you to eat at every pit stop.
In Atlanta, you camp indoors at the Georgia World Congress Center. Which is nice because you don’t have to worry about the elements making your night sleepless. No rain, no cold, no bugs! I know, that was pretty girly of me to say, but it’s true. I’m excited to see the pink tents lining the expo floors. From what I’ve gathered so far, The 3-Day is a well thought out event, that covers every concern and safety concern for such an extreme event.
Now it’s time to start packing my bag and walking pack. I know I’m going to need some blister patches and some extra socks. My shoes are broken in, and it’s time to test my limits to the fullest. Wish me luck!
