5 Fun New Christmas Books That Aren't TraditionalIt’s time to break out the Christmas books to spark the excitement in my little ones leading up to the big day! We read books every night so I get excited when adding the holiday books into the rotation. This year we’ve added to our collection of the classics and added in some new and fun Christmas books to enjoy this season. Including a new local favorite that my kids can relate to because they have been to the places in the book!

Santa’s (Zany, Wacky, Just Not Right!) Night Before Christmas – “One Christmas Eve it was a cold stormy night; and nothing at the north pole was going quite right…” Santa’s (Zany, Wacky, Just Not Right!)Night Before Christmas is a whimsical tale of Santa’s journey through a Christmas Eve that doesn’t go as he expects. One small event leads to a series of surprises that change Santa and Christmas as we know it. It’s a story to spark the imagination, make kids giggle, and bring a smile even to a grownup’s face.

Santa Is Coming to Georgia –

It’s Christmas Eve, Have you been good? Santa’s packed up all the presents and is headed your way! With the help of a certain red-nosed reindeer, Santa flies over:

•Fox Theater, Atlanta
•Hay House, Macon
•Georgia Aquarium, Atlanta
•Pebble Hill Plantation, Thomasville
•Forsyth Fountain, Savannah
•World of Coca Cola, Atlanta
•Ezekiel Harris House, Augusta
•Stone Mountain
•MLK Birthplace
•City Hall, Athens
•The Varsity
•KFC Chicken Sign, Marietta

“Ho, ho ho!” laughs Santa. “Merry Christmas, Georgia!”

How Many Sleeps ’til Christmas?

Little Pip is so excited for Christmas! One morning he wakes up Daddy Grizzle exclaiming that it is Christmas! But Daddy Grizzle tells him that it’s not Christmas yet. Daddy Grizzle lets Little Pip know that there are four more sleeps until Christmas. Poor Little Pip wonders how he’ll ever make it, but Daddy Grizzle assures him that they still have many things to do yet. They need to find a tree, send Christmas cards, and much more. Will Daddy Grizzle be able to keep his little cub busy until the big day?

The Christmas Truck

When celebrating a special Christmas tradition things go awry. Papa, Dad, their amazing kid, and one fabulous grandmother work together and implement a plan to save Christmas for a child they have never met. It’s a story where joy is found in giving and selfless acts unite families.

A Pirate’s Night Before Christmas
Young mateys will find plenty of holiday joy in this humorous, colorful, and thoroughly piratical version of the beloved Clement C. Moore classic. On this ship of mischievous brigands—who have visions of treasure chests, not sugarplums, dancing in their heads—you wouldn’t expect a visit from nice St. Nick. Instead, here comes Sir Peggedy, with his peg leg and hook arm, cracking his whip and driving eight giant seahorses: Salty, Scurvy, Sinbad, Mollie, Cutthroat, Cross-Eyes, Roger, and Jolly.
Philip Yates’ rollicking rhymes and Sebastià Serra’s sprightly, fun-filled pictures—featuring whimsically multicolored seahorses, stockings hung on the ship’s bowsprit with tar, child-friendly pirates, and a complete treasure map—turn this Christmas perennial into a jubilant celebration!

Enjoy building your wacky Christmas book collection!
