I am beyond excited about two awesome shows coming to Netflix. The first, you’ll remember from your childhood, Reading Rainbow. It received an outpouring of support for a comeback and I’m so happy that it will be available to watch on Netflix starting this month. The next show is called Project Mc² and it incorporates S.T.E.A.M (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math) in a fun way by depicting smart girls, that viewers can relate to, throughout the series.
It’s a new Netflix original tween series Project Mc². Project Mc² follows four super smart and science-skilled girls as they are recruited to join the spy organization, NOV8 (“Innovate”), and work together to save the day. Smart is the New Cool™
My daughter and I watched the first episode the other day and we loved it and can’t wait to catch the rest of the series. They series starts streaming on August 7th.
Project Mc² also has an awesome new set of toys and dolls that go along with the series. I love that each doll comes with gear that the girl in the show loves. Adrienne Adams has a chemistry set and a separate set to make your own rock candy jewelry!
The toys are targeted to girls 6 – 10 years old, while the Netflix series targets girls 6 – 13 years old.
Each of the Project Mc² dolls has a unique cultural back story, face sculpt, premium glass eyes, eyelashes and is engineered to stand at a different height – reflecting REAL groups of friends. They provide aspirational role models that are relatable and fun.
Showing that S.T.E.A.M is all around us, each of the four core dolls, McKeyla McAlister, Adrienne Attoms, and Bryden Bandweth, expresses their interests via experiment kits that let girls actually build a working volcano, lava light, glow stick necklace and a blueprint skateboard. No refill packages need to be bought, since all the girls need to complete their science experiments are regular kitchen supplies and household ingredients. Um, can you say awesome!
Wanting to create as authentic S.T.E.A.M based experience as possible, MGAE teamed up with CIA experts and science Phd specialists to develop the Project Mc² line.
The doll line, together with the experiment kits, will be available at Walmart, Target, Toys R Us, Amazon, Kmart and Joann Fabrics and Crafts and will retail from $9.99 to $54.99.
