Captain McFinn Swim and Play App ReviewIt’s time to test another awesome kids app, this time we are testing Captain McFinn Swim and Play. It’s an app geared towards kids ages 3-5 years old and it has a unique feature I’ve never seen in any app before. It’s the first ever app that offers an interactive live host that talks to your child and sends them praise for their work in the game. They even call them out by name. It is amazing! See an in depth video below.

The live hosts can’t see or hear your child, they can only see the game play from their end. But you can send chat messages and share your creations with the live host and they will praise your child and even share it with the rest of the players. Swim & Play allows children and their parents to touch content in a way never before done – and all in a secure setting alongside their friends.Captain McFinn Swim and Play App

When you first start the game you get to select the color fish you would like to play with and then type in your childs name, or nickname if you’d prefer to keep their names anonymous. Then you use your finger to move your fish around Sand Dusty Reef and explore the area. You can meet the other fish and creatures in the area and see what they do by tapping on them. During 7am-7pm PST a live host will join the game in a gold submarine to talk with your child. They encourage you to pick up trash along the reef to keep it clean. The host helps the parent and child navigate through an interactive experience, learning important pro-social life lessons, such as kindness and sharing, in a fun and engaging way.Captain McFinn Swim and PlayWhile you’re child is playing the game they live hosts will play videos and open up special secret areas that you can visit and participate in the special activities. So far we have been to three of the special areas (art / painting, sand castle building and the dress up area) and I believe there is one more (music) that we haven’t visited yet. Captain McFinn Swim and PlayIn Inky’s Art Party you can color a special picture with fun backgrounds, stickers and blank coloring pages. When you are done with your picture, hit the share button and it is uploaded to the hosts dashboard so that they can see it. They praise your child and then share it with the rest of the group. Click here to see that in the video. Captain McFinn Swim and PlayMy almost 3 year old loves this game. I hear the upbeat music playing and then Welcome Back Squishy!  The live hosts are always so uplifting and sweet. They tell the kids their names and guide them through the game to find things and share stories about why it’s important to brush your teeth, pick up trash and other great life lessons. I highly recommend this app to parents, it’s truly one of a kind experience. You will need to be connected to a WiFi source to play this game as well.

The iPad app, available from the Apple iTunes Store, is based on the popular Captain McFinn storybook character who lives in the undersea world of Sand Dusty Reef with his friends. The Captain McFinn Swim & Play app is available using a subscription model. The freemium subscription model offers 10 minutes of free play at the start of the game, with subscription tiers of 1-month, 3-month and 6-month periods. The pricing is $4.59, $3.59 and $2.59 per month, respectively.
