I love when little ones correct you about their age. “I’m not 5, I’m 5 and a HALF!” Squish is there now so we thought we would have a fun half birthday celebration and do it Netflix style! Much like the Netflix New Year’s Countdowns that allow you to have a New Year’s Countdown at bedtime rather than try to get your kids to stay up until midnight, Netflix is now offering Birthdays On Demand. You can have your child’s favorite Netflix characters sing Happy Birthday to them! My good friend Krystyn came over with her girls and we made this amazing cake and played the new Netflix Birthdays.

I’ll be honest, I’ve never made a cake like this before so I was quite proud of the way it turned out. I also have a profound admiration for cake makers now because it is a lot of work! You can’t have an epic Netflix cake without some red velvet and cream cheese frosting.
The kids helped with the final touches, adding candles and the Netflix characters. Then we watched the new Netflix Birthdays On Demand with Luna Petunia. The cartoons are short and sweet and they talk to you child to let them know that they are celebrating their birthday. Then they sing Happy Birthday for the celebration. There are 15 different birthday celebrations to choose from.
Netflix Birthdays On Demand Titles:
- All Hail King Julien
- Barbie
- Beat Bugs
- Dinotrux
- Las Leyendas
- LEGO Friends
- LEGO Ninjago
- Luna Petunia
- Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir
- My Little Pony
- Pokemon
- Project Mc2
- Skylanders Academy
- Trollhunters
- Word Party
It’s a special way to do a birthday celebration with your child’s favorite character. I love that it isn’t just the little kids shows either. JaMonkey loves Project Mc2 so she can have her own special celebration when we go on vacation for her birthday. Best of all, you can stream these birthday celebrations anywhere with your Netflix app. So if you’re road tripping across the US or just hosting a themed party at home. Super easy!
All of the Birthday celebrations are streaming now on Netflix. You can find them by going to netflix.com/birthdays or by searching Birthdays on your streaming devices.
Make the cake! Here is what you will need:
- Red and White Candles
- Red Velvet Cake Mix (pack of 2)
- Cream Cheese Frosting (3x)
- 6-inch cake pans
- Letter candles in your favorite color.
- Candy Melts in your favorite color. (12 oz Candy Melts with 1/2 cup heavy cream (hot) makes the perfect ganache for your drip cake)
I’ll lug the iPad to all the family birthdays, now! King Julian for everyone!
