First Date
Our First Date

Boy, 6 years is a long time. For me it is anyways. But this past week, I celebrated 6 years of being married to my very goofy husband. We met a mere 6 months prior to deciding to start a family and get married. Crazy right? We’ve stuck with each other through the thick and thin. Sneaking in date nights when we can. Despite our differences and stubbornness.

Since getting married we’ve had to face things that no couple should. Trying times but also some great times. Unlike most young couples, we actually planned our children. Most people called me crazy but when you know what you want you go for it.  The first one was a healthy little chunk. The second we had quite the scare with. Facing SVT and prematurity.

Instead of having a big wedding we got married at the courthouse because we were buying a house. House tromps big wedding. Maybe one day we’ll have a wedding with our whole family. Have our two little girls up front with us. They would just love the dancing afterwards.

We’ve got everything we need in life. We have each other, our home, and our cars to get us to the park. But I know it can all be over in an instant. Whether it’s a tornado or even a fire.  To losing a job or the worst thing, a family member. But that doesn’t stop us from living our lives to the fullest each day. There is no reason to live in fear.

We embrace our love and enjoy every moment we can with each other. We respect each other when we need a moment. But I think the one thing that keeps me loving my husband the most each day is the fact that he can still make me laugh. Sure, we make pretty babies but have you ever laughed so hard you snorted?

I love you, Babe.

  • I love your story 🙂 My husband and I only knew each other for about four months before we got married. It’s always so wonderful to hear other stories about people that were able to make it work. Fast relationships typically burn out. You guys are so sweet together, and you have two beautiful daughters – such a wonderful life!
And about the “gone in an instant” warning — Did you know that Georgia now has its own tornado alley? Just a bit north of you, I believe. Scary to think about how all these people are losing their homes, businesses, and family members. I’m so glad that you are protected if the worst happens. I think that once we move, we will be purchasing renter’s insurance because like you said, you just never know when it will happen. Kind of like love, right? 🙂

    • Yep I’m often found in our hallway when they come. We don’t have a basement. Plus I live next to a train so that sound doesn’t help.

  • My hubby and I dated/lived together for 11 years before we married. 🙂 We’ve been married for 11 now… so over 22 years total. I just lost an uncle suddenly this week, and it reminded me how we need to live our lives to the fullest and always tell people how we feel about them, because you just never know. Love your story!

  • Happy 6 years! In our first year of marriage we went through the sudden and frightening loss of my grandfather and in our second, a tornado. We, too, have weathered the storms and recently celebrated 7 years of being married.

    Firebird
    really liked it
Firebird is a solid dark romantasy read. You have dragon-shifter political leaders of Rome. A witch who I don’t think we have seen the full extent of her power yet. There were so many little side stories told that I believe our FMC will ...
    Sunrise on the Reaping
    it was amazing
Oh Haymich, my heart is shattered for you. This was the perfect bridge between The Ballard of Songbirds and Snakes and Catching Fire. Linking the wickedness of The Hunger Games with the victors who came together to end them. If Suzanne C...
    Some Like It Scot
    liked it
This was a sweet romance read. I really enjoyed the audiobook narrators (Joshua Manning and Stina Nielsen). I don’t usually read books that fall into the religious category, but I’m a sucker for Scots and Irishman so that is why I wanted...
    My Demon Hunter
    really liked it
I am thoroughly enjoying the Hell Bent series. My Demon Hunter was even better than My Funny Demon Valentine. I’m a sucker for demonology stories, and these are filled with all kinds of interesting characters. This one features a plus-si...
