Being a homeowner I forget how much there is to do to keep my house “running” smoothly. Like cleaning, mowing the lawn and making sure everything is working properly. No landlords here. The one thing my husband and I always seem to forget is our air filter for the air ducts. Thank goodness 3M sent me their Filtrete Filters to remind me. They are the only filters we use because the quality is unmatched.
Last year, I was having a horrible time sleeping in our bedroom. I would wake up with bloodshot eyes and they would itch like crazy. I dusted and vacuumed everything but it didn't help. Then our AC unit died in the middle of summer. We found out it was because we have forgotten to change our air filter and the AC unit was working double time to push air through the disgusting layer on our filter. After we changed the filter my allergies cleared up and everything worked the way it should. So it's important that you set a reminder in your calendar to change your air filter. I also vacuum all of the intake ducts as well to make sure the filter doesn't have to fight with added dust. Changing on a regular schedule is more energy efficient as well. I honestly couldn't tell you how long it went not being changed for it to kill my AC unit. But will say that the bill I
We had two dogs in our house. Dogs love to bring in the stink from outside also. But there are also other factors like dirty diapers. Harsh cooking nights or a burnt dish in there. The 3M Odor Reduction Filter helps to stops it from continually circulating the house and never leaving. It's a carbon based filter so it absorbs odors right into the filter. 3m Filtrete Filters are good already but these Odor Reductions filters are the best. I never walk into the house anymore and think, “What is that smell?” Nothing is left lingering in our halls.
Changing your filter is super easy. You'll find it in your AC / Heating unit. It generally just slides into place. Nothing fancy about it. Mine is way up in my attic so it becomes a honey do job because I'm afraid of heights. I managed to climb the stairs enough to snap this picture of him changing it though.
