Chipotle Tuna Salad Recipe - No Maya When it comes to tuna salad, you can make it lots of different ways. My husband prefers his extra crunchy, I’m not a mayo fan so I like mine without mayonnaise. I wanted to try and spice things up from our boring tuna salad days and try something new. Not only is this chipotle tuna salad loaded with chipotle flavor, it is also made with greek yogurt, so it’s better for you than traditional tuna salad.

I used Bumble Bee® White Albacore Tuna, because it’s an easy and delicious way to add a variety of nutrients to your or your kids diet including lean protein, healthy fat, and important vitamins and minerals. I used Greek yogurt in the place of mayonnaise, this also added some added protein to the mix.

Bumble Bee® makes a Chipotle in Olive Oil blend as well. If you can find that in your stores, I would spring for it (they have a product locator you can check). But you can make it with regular white Albacore tuna as well. Just make sure that you have some chipotle seasoning or even some chipotle peppers. Chipotle Tuna Salad Recipe - No Maya

This recipe makes two servings, or one big serving for an adult. I used one celery stalk, a quarter of a purple onion, 1/4 cup of greek yogurt, and 1tablespoon of chipotle seasoning.
Chipotle Tuna Salad Recipe - No MayaI like to make the chipotle base first so that the flavors has a chance to blend together into the yogurt. Mix the season into the yogurt and stir, set aside while you chop your onion and celery. Then blend everything together. Chipotle Tuna Salad Recipe - No MayaThere is a secret to making a yummy sandwich that does become gross by lunch time. Line your bread with lettuce so that it doesn’t get soggy. I chose a pita pocket for this recipe because kids and adults can enjoy it. Chipotle Tuna Salad Recipe - No Maya

Scoop the chipotle tuna salad into your pita pocket lined with lettuce. The lettuce gives the sandwich some extra crunch as well. Chipotle Tuna Salad Recipe - No Maya

Chipotle peppers are more mild in spiciness so this recipe is still great for the kids lunchbox. Especially if you’re lucky like me and have kids that love spicy foods. It’s all about building their palates up. The more you feed them something, the more they will learn to love it. Don’t just say your kids won’t eat anything green and then never put it on their plates again. I promise you they will find green things they love.
