I’m becoming a big fan of Google products and since Google bought Motorola I’ve seen some pretty awesome changes to the brand. I told you about the awesome new Droid line that came out. But I recently got to test out the new Moto X and really was pleased with it. My favorite aspect was the Google Touchless Control. I could just say, “Ok, Google Now” and say pretty much any command and it does it without touching the phone! Great when you have your hands full. Here is the perfect example. You’re in the kitchen making a recipe and your hands are deep in a bowl of dough, but someone calls you that you need to talk to. You can just give the command, “Ok, Google Now answer” and start talking to the person that called you.
Another awesome thing about the Moto X that I haven’t seen on any other device is the option to customize the phone down to the accessories that come with it!
Verizon customers get a discount when you go through their website. You will be set the to new Motomaker website.
First, you’ll get to select the outside / back color. The also just added a bamboo finish! I went with the Turquoise because it’s my favorite color. Then you’ll need to select the front color, either white or black.
Next, you get to select the color for the accents on the phone. These are around the camera and the power and volume buttons.
You can select the signature that appears on the back.
Even what the phone start up screen says!
Go ahead and login to your Google account and you’ll already have everything you need right out of the box. Talk about convenience.
You can even select some fun accessories to match your phone!
Review everything you want customized and then check out. Everything is ready and personalized to your liking, right out of the box. SO AWESOME!
Then to make your life even easier you can use the Motorola Migration to transfer over all your pictures and text messages and more with this super simple app. It only takes a few minutes to get it started and depending on what you have on your old phone it only takes around 15-20 minutes to transfer over all your content to the new phone. It makes switching to a new Motorola phone super easy.
Check out my video to see how easy it is.
I loved the Moto X, it fit into the palm of my hand perfectly because of the curve in the back of the phone. The screen is the perfect size for one handed motions. The camera was a little wonky but I found out later that it needed a software update to fix the issue. I didn’t have the phone to test that out.
I’ve been extremely impressed with the way Google integrates everything together. It’s more seamless than the Apple iCloud. The Ok, Google now is what Apple users have been waiting for Siri to be. They dominate it! I wish they offered it on all of their products though, it’s currently only available on the Motorola Droids, Moto X and the Nexus 5. I was really hoping that it would be on the Nexus 7 (review coming soon), but it wasn’t.
Regardless, I see more and more smart phones moving into this type of customization. I can see why people would flock to it! The phone I created was just my style and matched all my turquoise cases!
