So much amazing news out of the D23 Expo Parks and Resorts panel. Here is what we learned.
The panel gave us a first look at the Rise of Resistance ride opening December 5th at WDW and January at Disneyland.
Disneyland News:
New parade coming this Spring 2020! The parade is called Magic Happens with Moana, Coco, Sleeping Beauty and more. It’s the perfect mix of classic and modern. Singer-songwriter Todrick Hall will be singing the song for this new parade.
Disneyland’s Toon Town 2022 will be getting Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway. The action takes place at the El CapiTOON Theater, where Mickey and Minnie are premiering their newest short, “Perfect Picnic.” Before you enter the cinema, you’ll experience a special exhibit created by the Toontown Hysterical Society featuring costumes and props from the toon world.
Marvel Themed Land – Avengers Campus
Spider-Man attraction will have a combination of classic and modern ride features. WEB – an organization that gives people superpowers. Home of the Spider-Man experience. There will be a web-slinger vehicle. There will be spider-bots that are glitching and Peter Parker needs our help to gather these glitching bots.
Pym Test Kitchen is going to grow and shrink food. You’ll also get a chance to meet Ant-Man and The Wasp.
Doctor Strange and the California Sanctum. You’ll see most of the characters in this area. You’ll finally be able to meet Iron-Man.
The second phase of the land will bring a new ride to fly a quinjet to Wakanda! You will need to suit up and fight a villain.
Shanghai Disney News
Zootopia comes to life with a new land with rides, shops, and restaurants.
Hong Kong Disney News:
They are getting a beautiful new castle that is inspired by 13 princesses called the Castle of Magical Dreams. It will also be a canvas for new entertainment, including a daytime show and nighttime spectacular and home to a new Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique.
Frozen land will have a new ride called Wandering Oaken’s Winding Sleigh.
WDW News:
Cirque du Soleil returns to the Disney Parks for a new show! It is inspired by Disney animation. For the first time, Walt Disney Imagineering and Walt Disney Animation Studios have joined forces with Cirque du Soleil to create a show that combines Disney storytelling and heart with Cirque du Soleil’s signature artistry. Previews will begin March 20, 2020, leading up to the world premiere on April 17.
Epcot is getting some major refurbishments. There are three new areas:
World Nature, World Discovery, and World Celebration.
New Spaceship Earth ride will focus on storytelling. The story light will track you through your journey through each scene. You will also exit through a new area called Dreamer’s Point that will feature a new founders statue of Wal Disney.
There will be a story fountain and a wishing tree that comes to life. There will be a new festival convention center as well with the perfect view of the fireworks.
Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind ride – World Discovery will be the home of the new Guardians of the Galaxy ride. Board a Nova ship and visit space. First-ever reverse launch into space.
Space 220 is a new restaurant that takes a cool new elevator up to the dining area. Reservations start this winter.
Let’s Play features areas with Edna Mode and a water balloon fight.
World Nature will have a new show called Awesome Planet opening Jan 2020. The Moana interactive water area will be in this area as well.
World Showcase is bringing a new show called Wonderous China. Canada Far and Wide as well. The France pavilion theater will have a double feature that includes a Beauty and the Beast Sing-Along Jan 2020. The Ratatouille Adventure, guests will shrink down and ride in Summer 2020.
A Mary Poppins attraction is coming to Epcot! Cherry Tree lane will find its home in the United Kingdom in the World Showcase. You will enter #17, the Bank’s family home.
Epcot Forever is a new nighttime spectacular opening soon.
Working on new nighttime spectacular. The new show called Harmonious. The largest nighttime spectacular in Disney history. Debuts in World Showcase Lagoon in 2020.
Resort News
Treehouse suites that are nature-based. Princess and the Frog restaurant coming down by the bayou. Reflections: A Disney Lakeside Lodge, a unique hotel and proposed Disney Vacation Club resort inspired by the wonders of nature and artistry of Walt Disney.

Digital Offerings
Disney Genie will help make the most out of your visit. Plan themed visits like a princess day or a foodie visit. Debuting in 2020. Disney Genie will be a new mobile experience that provides customized plans while at Walt Disney World. Provides updates and unique experiences. Fastpasses, dining, and more.
Partnership with Target
The Disney Store shopping shops are coming to Target stores. There will be instagrammable content. The stores will open with 25 stores to start October 4th, and then 40 more stores by October of next year. There will be a new Target Store opening on Walt Disney World Resort.
Disneyland Paris News:
Disney’s Hotel New York – The Art of Marvel ill have themed suites for Spider-Man. Will feature art from the comics.
Disney Cruise Line News:
Three new ships are being added to the fleet.
Lighthouse Point, Island of Eleuthera will be added to the list of ports in the Bahamas. Joe Rohde shared that there will be a seaside adventure camp. Taking inspiration from the island and doing conservation efforts to keep it up.
One of the new ships is called the Disney Wish, and will be delivered in 2021 and sets sail in January 2022. It will feature Repunzel.
