The only decorations inside my house right now are my Christmas tree and that was literally thrown together. My house has been less than festive this year. So I set out to Kmart to help me create a dinning room update so that we actually want to spend time in there and enjoy the holiday all at the same time.
I love shopping at Kmart for things like this because they have such amazing prices. I don't have to wait until after the holidays to get deeply discounted items. Kmart has them on clearance on their already low prices. This particular day I also earned 10 points per dollar on my shop and got a $5 gift card because I spent over a certain amount. It's a nice surprise.
The Holiday Shop was huge. Lots of stuff to choose from, not to mention there were smaller holiday areas throughout the store. I was looking for something to make my dinning room more festive and inviting so that when my family comes over for Christmas Breakfast they will be surprised that it isn't overflowing with blogging giveaways and unfinished crafts. Instead they will see something out of a magazine (it looks good in my mind let's hope it comes out that way.)
First I walked through the aisles to see what I could pull together that would look modern but still festive. After that I walked over to the Home section and found an aisle for tabletop and kitchen items. I found some great table clothes and table runners, along with some very nice napkin rings that I can use year round. JaMonkey even got her own Candy Cane place mat to decorate her spot at the table.
I then started searching for some nice glass vases or candle holders. My idea was to put ornaments inside them. I ended up finding a great three piece candle hurricane set that I can do just that AND use it year round for different holidays and occasions. It happened to be on sale so it was better than a holiday deal!
I got a few coordinating ornaments some tiny ones alone with some giant shatterproof ones that will look great just sitting on the table. My budget was to find everything under $100. I did really good because I got massive clearance deals along with My Kmart Points Rewards and the $5 gift card they ended up giving me to come back and shop next week.
Here is a peak at everything I got. I can't wait to show you what I do to transform my dinning room from boring everyday life to a lovely holiday corner! Stay tuned to see the before and after, look out Martha Stewart!
