Dinner is Just Easier with Sharp Knives

Photo Oct 21, 7 12 41 AM I participated in an Influencer Activation on behalf of Influence Central for Calphalon. I received product samples and a promotional item to thank me for my participation.

I’ve been dealing with the same knives since before me and my husband got married. Needless to say, chopping fruits and vegetables was more like sawing them. It was messy and dangerous. When I got my Calphalon Self-Sharpening Cutlery Set my husband and I went on a chopping spree.

We love vegetables, and make giant handfuls of them every night for dinner. This set is amazing! Inside the main grooves for the kitchen prep knives, are built in ceramic sharpeners. So after I’m done prepping and washing (by hand) the knives, I just slide them into the slots and it’s like a fresh sharpened blade every time! Photo Oct 21, 7 13 55 AM

One of my favorite things to make with all the vegetables we eat is to chop them up and sauté them. We grew brussel sprouts this year and they were so yummy. SONY DSC

Saute them with some kale with a dash or sea salt and oh my gawd, green heaven. Make sure you take the kale leaves off of the stems, they can be a little tough and they don’t taste as good to me either. Photo Oct 22, 6 16 12 PM

But I tried my hand at a vegetable and tofu stir-fry this week and it came out quite yummy. SONY DSC

Of course, cutting tofu is very easy. It’s like cutting room temperature butter. But I like my tofu with a crispy edge, so I pan fry it before I throw it into my vegetable stif-fry. SONY DSC

So I threw broccoli slaw (broccoli, red cabbage, and carrots), brussel sprouts, snap peas, and tofu in a wok or one-pot with some coconut oil. I then put in a splash of soy sauce and if you wanted some teriyaki sauce. Serve the vegetable blend over jasmine or basmati rice. It makes for a great meatless meal. Plus, my kids love it also so that is an even bigger win.

  • Self sharpening knives? How awesome is that. I chop veggies for basically every meal and my knives get dull so quickly.

  • My husband was just talking about our knives the other day. They are so dull! I enjoy cooking veggies in the kitchen and my favorite thing to cut, after spending a long time watching videos, are the herbs. I finally learned–thanks to Atlanta native-Alton Brown!
