Consideration was provided by Orville Redenbacher’s Popcorn.
This weekend I got together with some friends to have a fun drive-in movie party. Of course, I live in the south where it rains ALL THE TIME, so we had to bring our party inside. What better way to do that than with the kids favorite way to watch movies, in a laundry basket. So we did some fun crafts to turn our baskets into cars for our drive in movie. I popped lots of Orville Redenbacher’s Popcorn and prepared other fun snacks for the kids to eat while we all gathered in the living room for a movie.
I know I’m not the only mother that has noticed it: my their kids love for relaxing in small spaces like a box or laundry basket. My friend suggested it, and I immediately had one of those mom realizations– “Wait, my kids aren’t the only ones that do that?!” It was a genius idea. The kids gave me a strange look when I told them we would be sitting in baskets to watch movies, but I promise you this: They barely moved for the entire thing.
To make the evening more fun we let the kids decorate their cars with wheels and headlights. Then we created these fun license plates with their pictures on them. They decorated the frames that held the pictures with stickers, glitter glue, and puff balls. We even found some cute state license plate stickers. The pictures themselves were removable stickers, so when the kids were done with the movie they could place their cute license plates wherever they wanted.
While the kids waited for their licenses plates to dry, we popped some of the Orville Redenbacher’s Popcorn kernels in my new microwavable bowl. We wanted a classic, lightly salted batch to use for any mix-ins (like the gobs of Halloween candy) they wanted to add. We also popped some of the Movie Theater Butter Pop Up Bowls and placed them around the room in case anyone needed a refill without “leaving the car.” We love the Pop Up Bowls because it pops up in minutes, giving you a delicious, light and fluffy snack that’s perfect anytime. Popcorn is one of my favorite snacks to munch on in the afternoons when I’m working.
We had such a blast at our drive-in movie party. I think we are going to make plans to have more playdates like it in the future.

He was having fun, that’s all that matters
My favorite part of family movie night is the family part! It’s great to hang out with family (and friends.)
My favorite thing is how excited the kids get!
