Since returning from Conversations with Coca-Cola I’ve been trying very hard to start small and make big changes in my daily routine. One of the ways I’ve done this was walking. I’ve started walking nearly every morning. Before I bought my pedometer I was using my smartphone to track not only my steps but how far I was walking. Even with my new pedometer I bring my smartphone to keep me going. I have a fitness app that I use that tracks where I am with the GPS and plays my music through the app to keep myself moving with the beat. It will periodically call out how far I’ve walked and then my speed. It’s great motivation to keep going farther.
I walk from my house to a local park and I push myself to keep going because the farther I walk the farther it is for me to get home and there is only one way to get there. I love using the Verizon Wireless HTC Droid Incredible they have given me to test out because I have the worst trouble with my current phone and provider not locating me on the trail that takes me to the park. It’s hidden under tall tress and I tend to keep my phone in my pocket when I walk so it looses me often. This messes up my readings and it doesn’t know exactly how far and what speed I’m going. With the Verizon phone though the signal isn’t just using GPS to pick up my location. It is also using Verizon’s towers to pin point my exact location without any interruptions. It’s a really cool technology that is helping me stay active. Seeing it on the phone screen it great encouragement for future walks. Especially when I can beat my previous time or distance, I can race against myself each day.
I generally walk 3 miles each morning (unless it’s raining or the baby is cranky) from my house to the other side of the park pushing the stroller as Lil’ Peanut takes her morning nap.
Here are some of the Apps I use from Google Play:
The first three are all compatible with your FitBit and sync together!
Endomondo
Cardio Trainer
Disclosure: I am participating in the Verizon Wireless Ambassador program and have been provided with a wireless device and three months of service in exchange for my honest opinions about the product.
That looks like a great app. And, I have an iphone so should check it out 🙂
Oh this is a neat app!
One of my favorite smartphone fitness apps is the Nike one. I use it all the time.
I’ve been thinking about getting a FitBit, but right now I use an app called Lose It. It’s so nice to be able to track everything in there and keep myself accountable!
The FitBit syncs with the Lose it App also!
I I don’t know what I did before apps!
I am going to get a smart phone here soon, this is one of the first things I plan on getting!
This sounds like a great way to be more active.
I plan on getting this.
I love using my phone to help with my weight loss efforts. I use Fit Bit and Sparkpeople on my phone every day!
What a handy app and way to keep track of your goals and progress!
