We were provided a room at the Captain’s Quarters Resort in exchange for our honest review. All opinions are my own.
Our trip started out in a rough patch when I discovered that I left my purse at the house after we were an hour from home. That caused us quite the delay, but we got to the resort at around dinner time. We were tired from the ride but didn’t want to be sitting down any more than we had to be so we went to the bowling alley located in the resort. I’ve never stayed at a resort that had a bowling alley in it, and I’m telling you what, it was the highlight of our time. When you’re staying at Captain’s Quarters, you get to bowl one game for free a night. We bowled every night! All you have to pay for is the shoe rental which was only a few bucks a person. My husband enjoyed a cocktail while we were bowling and they had everything we needed for the kids to enjoy themselves. Bumper rails, light bowling balls, and the ramp to help my youngest roll the ball. The bowling alley is located above the parking deck, so it doesn’t bother any guests sleeping in the hotel.
The views from the balcony were fantastic. I was able to wake up early and catch the sunrise over the water. You can even see the pier off in the distance. Our room had a balcony with two chairs and a little table outside as well so we could go out there and just relax. It also overlooks the outdoor pool area.
The room was spacious and even had a separate bedroom for the kids so that we could put them to bed and still enjoy our time awake. When you first walk into the room, you go through the smaller bedroom and then pass through a kitchen area. It had a full refrigerator, dishes, and stove in it. This is great for families that are staying a little while and don’t want to eat out at every meal. It’s a more budget-friendly way to travel with the family. It was nice having a place to store our leftovers as well. I wish there were a kitchenette in every hotel I go to when I travel.
There is a TV in both rooms so we were able to put on some early morning cartoons and sleep a little longer without the kids waking us up. JaMonkey got really sick during the trip so we ended up separating them so that she wouldn’t wake up her sister in the middle of the night from coughing. We discovered that the couch was also a pull out bed so that worked out perfectly.
It was too cold to swim while we were there but the resort also has indoor pools that you can enjoy. Captain’s Quarters has a pool, large hot tub, and two lazy rivers that are all heated. One of the lazy rivers is for children, so it is more shallow than the main one. The finds loved floating in the river in tubes and the warm water. My husband and I hit the hot tub to relax and unwind. The restaurant on the property that we ate breakfast in is called Vista 9 and is on the top floor of the hotel so that you have a beautiful sunrise breakfast. Because it was the slow season, they were making eggs fresh to order, so they weren’t sitting on the buffet. We were able to order them with different cheese and veggies mixed in as well.
