This past week I got to test drive the all new Ford Escape equipped with the new handsfree lift gate feature. Which is now one of my new favorite tech features. Other moms can totally relate to carrying way too much at once. You know you’re guilty. You carry your baby, your purse, the shopping bags as well as holding your other child’s hand. Then you get to the car and fumble around looking for your keys or adjusting all your bags in order to hit the button on the trunk release to open the back. Well the new handsfree lift gate has a handy little feature to help moms just like you and me out.
The handsfree lift gate will open with a simple kick of the foot under the back bummer. As long as the smart ket is in your pocket and in close proximity to the vehicle it will unlock and open the lift gate for you. This feature was incredibly handy during this busy back to school time. I had no idea my daughter was going to need to provide supplies for the whole year in the first week. Not to mention she grew so fast this summer that I didn’t have any clothes for her. So I hit all the back to school sales during the tax free weekend. Armfuls of bags full of clothes, groceries and supplies. I used the heck out of this awesome liftgate.
Enabled by motion technology used in today’s video game systems, a gentle kicking motion under the center of the rear bumper activates, unlocks and raises the liftgate when the driver has the Escape key fob. This allows quick and easy access to the cargo area without needing to set down packages or dig out keys. The same process closes the hatch.
I truly fell in love with the Ford Escape Titanium for other reasons also. It has so many great features it’s hard to know where to begin. Aside from the handsfree liftgate that is. It’s a stylish SVU for sure.
It looks so small on the outside that I was incredibly surprised at how much room was in the front and back seats. Enough that the car seats fit with no problems at all and I have the Graco Snugride Click Connect 40 and it extends pretty far.
The next thing I love about the Ford Escape Titanium was all the great tech features.
Rear Backup Camera
Sensors around the whole car to alert you to anything close.
Blide spot detectors on the side mirrors
Dash screen with Navigation, Phone, HD/Satellite Radio and climate control
Smart windshield wipers that turn on or speed up if it starts raining harder.
LED running lights.
Ecoboost
It’s hard to believe this isn’t a luxury vehicle because it sure looks like one, aside from the price. (Under 30K!) There is a reason it is America’s favorite SUV. I’ve been a Ford girl for 6 years now. I’m in love with my Edge but this Escape is making my Edge jealous in the driveway.

I have the 2004 Escape, and it is NOTHING like what these pictures show! I ADORE that handsfree liftgate!
yes, love the hands free lift gate because when you’re only 4’9″ tall, well sometimes reaching that gate even on tiptoes is hard!
