Celebrate the Who-lidays in an all-new way at Grinchmas at Universal Studios. It's like jumping right into the How the Grinch Stole Christmas movie. Your family will love it.
I was hosted by Universal Studios Hollywood, but all opinions are my own.
I've never been to Universal Studios Hollywood, so I wasn't sure what to expect from Grinchmas. I will say that I was completely floored the moment I walked into the central plaza area where it is transformed into Whoville. I walked through the gate and ran smack dab into the Grinch himself as he stormed off to an unknown destination.
There were Who's all around chatting with guests and sharing in the Who-bilation. The Mayor was greeting guests and making sure they were having a great time. The Who noses have always made me giggle and seeing them in person was a treat. The hair, make-up, and costumes of the Who's are so amazing. Such amazing attention to detail.
Cindy Lou Who and Martha May Who-vier even came out to share in the magic. Martha May performs later in the day with the Who Dolls in a fun stage show.
I half expected everyone to join hands and start singing Welcome Christmas around the ENORMOUS crooked Christmas tree that stood in the middle. What a sight! It is everything I could have hoped for and more from a Grinchmas tree. In front of the tree is a stage for performances by the Who-singers, a group of acapella singers breaking it down with some holiday favorites.
While you're at Grinchmas make sure you get a tasty treat. There are donuts as big as my head, huge cupcakes, and yummy cookies. There were also mini donuts that smelled so delicious.
You can't visit Whoville without meeting the Grinch! I had so much fun chatting with him. He took to time to chat with each guest. With that in mind, be prepared to wait in his line. Totally worth it though. He takes breaks to be on stage during Martha May's performance as well. He recorded a special message for my friend Candy's son, and it was the sweetest!
I think the highlight of the day was getting to mee Max the dog, the REAL dog. We had a moment together. Dogs can always tell if you're a “dog person” and when I walked up, he leaned towards me to try and give me some love. Unfortunately, you can't touch the dog otherwise I would be scratching him behind the ears and giving him sweet kisses.
Before you leave, make sure to send a postcard to the Grinch. It will make your heart grow three sizes when you see that it helps support tutoring homeless youth. Such a great cause.
Here is a video from my entire time at Universal Studios Hollywood.
Grinchmas takes place on select nights during December.
