Sometimes I just need something crunchy and sweet to munch on. I don’t keep junk food in the house and during the holidays we try to get rid of any that may have snuck into the house. One of my new favorite snacks is a simple one. It’s just sliced apples, skinny hazelnut spread, granola and raisins (or another dried fruit).
You get a great balance of sweet and crunchy. Plus, you can mix it up with different granolas, dried fruits and spreads. You can use peanut butter or any of your favorite nut butters. I prefer a granola that has freeze dried fruit like strawberries and raspberries mixed in. You could use cranberries in the place of raisins also.
Just slice up some apples. Make sure they are thick enough to hold the spread and granolo. You don’t want it to fall apart in your hands.
Spread a layer of your skinny hazelnut spread on top of the apple.
Then sprinkle and press your granola and dried fruit into the top and enjoy! Your kids will love this as a snack also. It would make a great after school snack to hold them over until dinner. This has become my latest late night snack. It’s very filling and that is when I crave sweets more than any other time during the day.
Enjoy
