The much-anticipated movie of the season is finally here! SING is a wonderful movie and was the perfect film to take the kids too. My oldest loves singing competition shows, so I knew she was going to love this one. We spent the evening having a yummy dinner in Atlantic Station, and before we hit the movie, we stopped by the local candy store to grabs some different snacks. It was a fun evening with my big munchkin.
Dapper Koala Buster Moon presides over a once-grand theater that has fallen on hard times. An eternal optimist, and a bit of a scoundrel, he loves his theater above all and will do anything to preserve it. Facing the crumbling of his life’s ambition, he takes one final chance to restore his fading jewel to its former glory by producing the world’s greatest singing competition. Five contestants emerge: a mouse, a timid elephant, a pig, a gorilla and a punk-rock porcupine. With 65 different songs, you are sure to know at least one to get your toes tapping. By the end of the movie I wanted to dance in the aisles. It truly is a great feel good movie.
You’ll hear the voices of Tori Kelly, Matthew McConaughey, Reese Witherspoon, Seth MacFarlane, Scarlett Johansson, and Taron Egerton are among some of the notable names. I knew that Scarlet Johansson had a great set of pipes on her after her rendition on Trust in Me for The Jungle Book. Who surprised me the most was Reese Witherspoon and Taron Egerton. Reese Witherspoon’s character, Rosita, is the mother of a houseful of little pigs. The housewife that has dreams of more. We all feel like Rosita at times despite whether we have 2 or 18 kids. The other messages in the movie are equally empowering. Bravery was a big one. Standing up for what you believe in and following your heart are so important.
Check out SING in theaters now. It’s the perfect movie to catch while you’re on Christmas break and the kids are home from school.
