Kids Crafting with Cricut

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Cricut. All opinions are 100% mine.

When the crafting bug hits me, I’m normally glued to my kitchen table all day (and sometimes weekend) creating different things. Because my girls are not at home with me all the time, we have turned to crafting together to bring a little bit of magic to our day-to-day.

I’ve been a Cricut fan for quite some time, and now you can get your Cricut supplies and machines right at Target. Like the new Cricut Joy, a cute little cutting machine that is super easy to set up and use.

When the girls saw all the great Cricut stuff we had gotten, they immediately started giving me their ideas for projects. JaMonkey wanted to make her art supplies really stand out with some fun designs.

Cricut Created

She decided to put some vinyl on the front of her art sketchbook. She designed the art in Cricut Design Space and I taught her how to cut and layer each of the vinyl pieces together. By the end of this first project, she was a pro and started bringing me all kinds of things she wanted to decorate. It was fun crafting with her. She is so creative.

Cricut Sketch

The next thing she wanted to do was create the word SKETCH on her art supply case. We used the Smart Label Writable Vinyl and picked a funky font to make the blocky letters stand out.

Cricut Pug Drawing

Then, she found this adorable Pug drawing and had the Cricut Joy draw it out on the Writable Vinyl to be placed on the other side. This pug was probably the coolest thing to watch the Cricut Joy draw. We were all mesmerized watching each pen stroke.

Squish saw how much fun her sister was having so she wanted to join in on the fun as well. I really wanted to make something for her teacher. It was her first year teaching her own classroom and having it cut short made us so sad. So we made her a “Best Teacher” tote bag to showcase. We used Infusible Ink for the design. I found a fun font to write the message. I filled it in with the black Infusible Ink markers. Then, we let Squish draw her teacher a picture that we included on the tote bag.

Cricut Cards

This Teachers Tote Bag is probably my favorite crafting project. It’s such a cherished gift to receive something personalized by a student. We also made a card to give to her as well. It’s the perfect Teacher Appreciation Gift.

While the girls have been having a blast creating all kinds of fun stuff, I managed to make a few things for myself. I’ve been meaning to update my labeling on my containers in the kitchen. I’ve just been writing on them with dry-erase markers and I always end up erasing it by accident. So I used the Smart Writable Vinyl to make new labels for my kitchen containers.

The possibilities are endless for crafting with Cricut. I’m so excited that you can now get everything right at Target. I’m in there all the time already, so now I can look for new releases during my visits. Even if I can’t make it into the stores, I can order on Target’s website and use my Red Card to save even more.
