Back to school supply shopping is one of the worst times for me. I want to save money while sending in the supplies that help our teachers get by for the year. The list for both of my kids continues to grow every year. 48 pencils, 40 glue sticks it’s crazy! I like to get our teachers a little something extra as well just to show my appreciation to kick off the new year. I partnered with School Specialty to help get us back to school ready for the upcoming year.
They sent me three boxes filled with some great products not only for our teachers but also for the kids and myself to help us prepare for back to school. If you’re anything like me, you need help getting organized for the school year. The parent box I received had lots of great products to create a command center to make sure you have your planning in order. My favorite thing in the box was the Dooley Boards that you can hang on the wall or refrigerator. You can write messages for the family so that they see it each day. For our meet & greet with the new teachers, I brought them both a file box filled with the list of supplies and the little extras for their classroom. In my opinion, you can never have too many storage boxes and I know teachers have a lot of stuff in their classroom. I’m not going to lie, it was hard to hand them over because I love some good storage boxes. But it made it super easy to bring in all their stuff as well. One of the best items in the box was something I have had teachers and friends recommend for my oldest called Bouncy Bands. It is a heavy duty rubber band that goes on the bottom of the child’s chair and they can bounce their legs on it so that they can fidget to their heart’s desire. There is also a sweet photo frame that also dispenses post it notes! Having a dual purpose item on your desk helps reduce excess clutter. My youngest just started Kindergarten so I sent her in with the fun neon paper because they do so many fun projects when they are little. School Specialty doesn’t just have the basic school supplies. They carry a whole lot more that you wouldn’t normally think about as well. So they created a box for my kids as well and they were really excited about the stuff they picked out for them. There were noise canceling headphones, which I had never tried before. It’s crazy how those things work so well. There was also a giant binder inside that is the perfect road trip binder to keep things like pens, pencils, and a book light to draw inside. My favorite was the BrainBox memory game. It has a bunch of science and nature facts that you have 10 seconds to try and memorize as many as possible. I think we will make a video about them for S.T.E.A.M Saturday one day soon. The kid’s favorite item in the box is called a Buddha Board. It is a board with special paper that dries fast and you use a paint brush with water to “paint” on it. Then a few minutes later the picture is gone and you can start all over again. They played with it for hours. I love it because they aren’t wasting paper with every picture they draw!
