With all the cravings swirling through your head on a daily basis it can be hard sometimes staying on track during your pregnancy. I told you about my adventures of staying thin during pregnancy and how I was doing it during my first trimester. Well my second trimester was a bit harder because Ice Cream Sundaes were my massive craving. So the weight I kept off for the first three months was starting to catch up with me.

Now that I am in my third trimester it’s extremely important that I keep what I eat in check or I could end up gaining too much and creating medical problems that would affect the baby and my natural birth plan.

So I’m participating in a Wholesome Choices challenge where I’m going to keep myself in check and watch what I eat so that I don’t gain any “weight” other than the baby 😉 along with trying to  take a walk as much as I can over the next month. To keep the end of my pregnancy a healthy one. Hope you’ll cheer me on and smack any ice cream out of my hands if you run into me.

  • Meghan,
As a follower of your blog I must say that I am usually impressed with the things you post. However…this…”Wholesome McDonalds” is just insane. There is more sugar in their oatmeal than a snickers bar. Calories arent everything. Not to mention the articles released about McDonalds refraining from using the pink goop in their burgers. There is nothing wholesome about McDonalds and its sad to see people promoting it as such.

    • Hey Amy,

Thank you for your comment. As a long-time reader, I really appreciate your honest feedback. This was something I was concerned about myself when the company reached out to me. I also heard about the Snickers bar thing as well. McDonald’s is actually taking a lot of steps to improve the nutrition of its menu. I was surprised to learn about the reduction of sodium across the board and the fact that they’ve eliminated transfat from their menu. The reason I agreed to work with McDonalds is because it wasn’t focused on promoting their food but more about making wholesome choices in my life all together like vowing to walk once a day or substitute my nightly ice cream sundae for a yogurt instead…lol. I think the McDonalds aspect comes in on the back end of if we are on the road or in a rush and are forced to eat fast food that they do offer better alternatives then they did before. Which is only a step in the right direction but still a step. I’m just glad companies see that they need to make these changes.

  • I can’t say I will be running out to get one of their burgers anytime soon, but honestly, I still take my kids there about once a month. Moderation and keeping your kids active is the key.

  • Kudo’s for being so conscious of what you are putting in your body. There are days where McDonalds is our only choice…I think some of their choices are great. An egg mcmuffin gives you your protein and carbs…which keeps you fuller longer. Keeping you on track! Everyone has opinions, you either love McDonalds or hate it…personally I am a fan (of course in moderation!)

  • It is nice to see companies offering more wholesome choices. When I think back to when I was a child, you could not find a “healthy” item at most fast food places.
