I participated in an Influencer Activation on behalf of Influence Central for Lions Gate. I received a book, products, and a promotional item to thank me for participating.

Having to wait a whole year for the new Mockingjay Part 1 movie is killing me. I was disappointed that they broke the movie into two parts only because that means I have to wait another year to see the whole series in full. The Hunger Games series is on of my  favorite trilogies. It was the first series that got me hooked on distopias. In celebration to the upcoming release of Mockingjay Part 1 I hosted a Mockingjay book club gathering where we chatted about my obsession with young adult books and my fangirl problems. Which stem from the book of course.

Mockingjay is the final book in The Hunger Games trilogy and It wasn’t my favorite of the three but the final book always answers those burning questions you have. I think that Katniss discovers that her courage is real and very powerful. It also focuses on the upheave of a corrupted governing system. I’ll admit that I was nervous about them splitting this book into two movies. Yes, a lot happens but to me the first half of the book was learning about life in District 13 and the second half contained all the action. Katniss builds a relationship with Gale and discovers the destruction that President Snow is causing to prove that he holds the power. The districts no longer believe him though and they all start to rise up against the Capitol. Even though she doesn’t want to be, she becomes the icon of hope in these districts and they all look to her for strength and courage to take on the Capital.

From the looks of the trailer it’s going to be heart pounding the whole movie. Every time I see the trailer it gives me chills and I start to tear up. The third book is a tough one for many characters.

Doesn’t it look amazing?! I’m going to a special screening next week and it literally can’t get here fast enough.

At the party we also enjoyed some yummy Hunger Games inspired foods. Like Peeta bread with Prim’s goat cheese and fresh apples. ‘Arrow’root cookies and some Nightlock berries (blueberries). Everyone really enjoyed them.

Even sweet baby B was enjoying Mockingjay. Maybe not the same way we were. Thanks to all my lovely guests for coming over to have a mini mingle about one of my favorite books.

Will you be first in line to see the new The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 movie?
