My husband and I switch off every morning to wake up the oldest to get ready for school. It gives me a chance to sleep for a little while longer because our youngest has been known to sleep until 9:30 am sometimes. But on the days that I get up early, I can’t get back to sleep, so I start my day before the others wake up. It allows me to gather my thoughts and get organized before the day starts.
I brew myself a cup of coffee and sit down with my notebook and phone to plan out my day. My husband says I like a little bit of coffee with my creamer, and he is totally right. Simply Pure is International Delight’s new clean label coffee creamer. With just five simple ingredients, it offers a new way to enjoy the coffee you love. Hazelnut is my go to creamer flavor; it has always been a favorite. I also like being able to pronounce what is in my coffee creamer.
I never answer emails in the morning unless it is something urgent that needs my attention. Instead, I go through and mark the ones that need my attention with a star (if you’re in Gmail) and delete the ones I don’t need. This keeps my email manageable for the day. If I ever skip this, my day ends in total chaos. I’m one of those people that hate seeing the push notification number on my iPhone. I have to view and clear things out, or I feel like I’ll miss something. Some days it can provoke anxiety, and I go to bed feeling stressed or end up working into the evening when it’s family time.
While I’m going through my email, I make a list of all the things I need to do for the day. Since I’m a full-time blogger, this consists of prioritizing my tasks for the day. I look at the deadlines I have and put my items in order.

I go through quite a few notebooks through the year. It is normally set up right in front of my computer so that I am forced to look at it. It’s something I started when I was working at a real estate office a few years ago. I would write everything I needed to finish down in a notebook and an email to my boss so that I wouldn’t forget anything the next day. It’s a habit that has stuck with me, and it keeps me a little more organized because I am anything but organized.
School is almost out so my routine will change a little but it will still consist of getting the girls breakfast and ready for the day and then me sitting down to enjoy my coffee and write down what I need to accomplish for the day.
