I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting (#MC) for Pier 1 Imports. I received a product sample to facilitate my review and to thank me for participating.
This past weekend I had friends and family come over to celebrate and welcome Summer with a Summer Soiree. It was also a chance for everyone to see my new outdoor oasis. A couple years ago we had nothing for our porch but a few camping chairs. We finally ditched the camping chairs and made it look like we weren't living in a bachelor pad. But, it still needed more. I wanted to turn the space into a true outdoor space that you would want to spend time in. So we took another huge step forward in our back patio and invited friends and family over to see it.
Here is the before shot from when we first started transforming the space. Nothing much to it, it's a tiny space that had potential. Before
After visiting Pier 1 Imports, one of my all time favorite stores, I had inspiration for my little back porch. I love lots of color so I went bold with bright turquoise, reds and greens. My favorite piece from Pier 1 were these Moroccan lanterns. Everything I bought revolved around these lanterns. From the napkins to the pillows.
Throw in some great outdoor pillows and some umbrella straws and you have a great Summer Soiree. We got rained out one weekend so we had to reschedule it to avoid slipping and sliding in the Georgia Clay. We grilled hamburgers and hotdogs while sipping on lemonade with raspberry ice cubes.
Everyone loved the colors. The napkins were another fun addition to all the bright colors. But everyones favorites were the beautiful Moroccan lanterns. I used flameless candles inside to give a beautiful glow and flicking effect.
The patio looks amazing and everyone had a great time playing in the water in the yard and making s'mores. It was the perfect way to kick off Summer with friends and family.
But I know what you really want to see. The (never) finished back patio! I still have big plans for the area. I want to get something to hang on the wall and also some outdoor curtains to hang so on those days that the bugs are really bad we can just pull them shut and relax on the porch as if it were screened in.
What do you think of the changes? Let me know in the comments below.
