For the last 8 years I’ve suffered through sleeping next to my husband.
Wait….let me rephrase that.
I’m finally getting a full nights sleep without my husband rolling over me or elbowing me in the face! There, that sounds a little better.
When I moved in with my husband I discovered that he sleeps in the middle of the bed. Dead center. Ask him to move and he will still end up back in the same spot. I thought it was something that would get better as we lived together longer but I was so wrong. So I just got used to sleeping in an area that was smaller than a twin. Despite the fact that I’m much larger than my husband (he’s a beanpole), we both sleep on our sides and that doesn’t leave a bunch of room.
We recently discovered that when we stay at hotels I sleep much better. Why you may ask? I make sure to ask for the king sized bed. So this past month it was finally time to replace our gross old uncomfortable mattress with a shiny new one and I wasn’t walking out of that store with anything other than a King. I told him it was either that or we were going old school and getting separate mattresses. Especially since we’d be sleeping on it for the next decade. It’s like buying a house or car, you better LOVE it because you’re going to have it for a long time.

and I’m in heaven. Not only is this set one of my favorite colors (turquoise) but I’ve recently become obsessed with color blocking and geometric shapes. I need to find a solid bed skirt and king sized pillows to go with the set but I’m so in love with it. I think it will be the next room on my home makeover list. Build a better room around the bed spread like in the first picture.
Now when I crawl into bed it feels like he is a mile away but that just means I won’t be waking up in the middle of the night because I took an elbow to the face or that he might roll over me in the middle of the night. He still sneaks over to cuddle every now and then but I’m able to sleep through the night comfortable now and that was the end goal here.
