This campaign brought to you by Mom Central Consulting on behalf of the Boys & Girls Clubs of America. I attended an information session and received a gift bag and promotional items to thank me for taking the time to participate.
When I was younger I was a member of the Boys & Girls Club of America. It was so long ago I barely remember but I do know it was fun for me. So I was excited about visiting the Brookhaven location here in the Greater Atlanta Area. I wanted to see how much things have changed over the years and what these great kids were doing during the after school programs and summer camps.
During the event we got a first hand look at the activities that the children get to participate in as well as the education they are providing these kids to help them stay in school to graduate and build bright futures. We got to play circle ball with some of the students. Then did a fun writing activity. The halls (and ceilings) were filled with the children’s creativity.
Starting at age 6 you can become part of the Boys & Girls Club. The three core values that they strive to teach are Be Educated, Be Healthy and Be Leaders. Right now the Boys & Girls Clubs of America is wanting everyone to Open the Door and Take the Tour to a club in their area or if you don’t have one close take a virtual tour! Some amazing stars are alumni’s of the Club, Denzel Washington, Kerry Washington, Usher, J-Lo and tons more.
Juvenile crime rates are higher during 3 to 7 pm. The after school time. Programs like The Boys & Girls Club are great for keeping kids off the streets and out of trouble. 3 out of 10 children are overweight or obese, a staggering number to me. Teaching our children early about their health and fitness can prevent this. One way they did this in the Brookhaven location was a vegetable garden that grew tomatoes and peppers that they later used in a big salsa festival. The made delicious salsa to eat and then learned how to dance the salsa (a great exercise).
Check out everything that these great Clubs offer kids and see if there is a Boys & Girls Club near you and take a tour. If you’d like to help your local club by donating or volunteering please click here.
Wow, it sounds like they had a lot of creative activities at the open house.

That was such a great event and it was so nice to see you there. I was totally impressed by all the programs offered through the Boys & Girls Club.
My son goes to the Boys & Girls club afterschool program at his school (he’s in kindergarten), and his sister will attend the one this summer as well. So far I love it, and its very affordable!
