Last night I got to hang out at the Georgia Aquarium to give back and help Project Linus make fleece blankets for those in need. UPS and Fox wanted to celebrate the Golden Fleece that they talk about in the new Percy Jackson movie so they partnered with Project Linus to make blankets at the event. It was a lot of fun. 
I didn’t know anything about Project Linus before this event so I learned about how they have chapters all over the country that makes blankets for local hospitals and children of military families. They also help during disaster relief. The were super simple to make and had all the supplies laid out for us. They placed two pieces of fleece together, one pattern and the other solid. Then they cut strips into so we could tie them together. 
While we were making blankets we got to enjoy watching the beluga whales swim around. We also got to watch the newly released Percy Jackson Sea of Monsters movie that is out now on DVD/ Blu-ray! I’ve not seen any of the Percy Jackson films and we were all sucked into the story.
The lovely Stephanie Schlund, who recently played Cashmere in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, was at the release party to talk with us and make blankets as well. Isn’t she beautiful? 
They feed us grilled cheese sandwiches and mini ice creams. Which my children may have indulged in quite a few.
The new Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters (Blu-ray/DVD + DigitalHD)
is out in stores now. It’s rated PG and would make a great gift for the holidays! Especially if you have a very imaginative child that has read the books.
