Retro Blast From the Past

What do you do when it’s freezing outside and there is snow and ice on the ground? You break out some retro gear and give your kids a lesson in your own childhood. We broke out the scrunchies, Rubik’s cube, and Shrinky Dinks that Netflix sent us and had a blast creating lots of cute retro bracelets together.

I’m not going to lie, Shrinky Dink’s are some of the coolest craft projects I’ve seen. And I was right there with my girls watching them curl up and shrink.

Whoa! That’s so cool!

I taught the girls all about Popples and the Care Bears. I showed them the old school My Little Pony that I used to watch as a kid also. Which are all streaming on Netflix now with new episodes. Care Bears were one of my favorites when I was little but when I got older it was My Little Pony and Rainbow Brite. As well as Reading Rainbow and Bill Nye the Science Guy, more awesome shows that you can stream on Netflix now.

Snow days are only fun when you get more than an inch of snow and when you live in the south you have to deal with the fact that it melts or turns to ice really fast. So we like our indoor activities more, it’s warmer inside. It’s like playing in cold water. It’s no fun.

But we got out of school early and got the wonder and delight of a pretty snowfall.

How do you spend your snow days?
