Recently I’ve spoken about The Lodge and Spa at Callaway Gardens but I thought that I’d share my own personal experience with you so you can hear first hand what it is like at this amazing resort. Let me first start by saying that I have now stayed on every part of Callaway Gardens this year including the Mountain Creek Inn, Cottages and the Lodge and Spa. I am a huge fan of Callaway Gardens and it is always such a pleasure to come down to this amazing area to experience nature and how peaceful it is down here. When you are looking to escape the hustle and bustle of Atlanta and your busy life this is the best place to come because you don’t have to drive far to enjoy it.
During Winter you can generally get FREE admission to the Gardens but I highly suggest staying for more than a day. It allows you to truly enjoy everything the Gardens have to offer. Staying at The Lodge and Spa at Callaway Gardens I was able to take my stay from a normal visit to a romantic getaway. I dropped off my daughter with my parents and headed down with my husband. We left our laptops behind and made sure to put the phones on vibrate. After checking into the Lodge I took a little me time for myself while my husband got some last minute work done while enjoying a snack in the Ironwood Lounge.
My me time consisted of an amazing massage in Spa Prunifolia. I had never been to a Spa quite like this one before where there was a large dedicated space with everything you could possible need. I honestly could have stayed in the Ladies Lounge all afternoon just relaxing in the Steam room or sauna. After getting into my comfy slippers and robe I was brought back into the most peaceful and relaxing room to prepare myself for my massage. The beds were heated and everything was prepared before I arrived. I was getting a prenatal massage so there are certain ways I have to lay and my lovely massage therapist was very helpful getting me relaxed and in the positions that were ok. After my amazing massage I was ready to order every service in the Spa just so that I didn’t have to leave. I’ve never been so relaxed in all my life. I was able to escape everything, even my thoughts and just enjoy being pampered. I’ll be making spa treatments a regular routine from now on.
After I slowing walked away from Spa Prunifolia I took to my room to enjoy a hot bath and shower. The bathrooms in the rooms are huge. Full big bath tubes and showers that you can fit two people into. After extending my relaxation my husband an I sat on our porch (every room in the Lodge has one) taking in the view of the amazing courtyard. With the waterfall in the center and overlooking the heated pool it was very nice. We walked around the grounds and down to the lake for a brief walk before heading to The Piedmont Room for an amazing dinner.
The Piedmont Room is open for Breakfast, Lunch as well as Dinner. Our dinner felt more like a formal setting even though it is casual. The staff was just amazing and kind. We both enjoyed the best steaks we have EVER had. We also thoroughly enjoyed the rosemary bread that was served as well. We stayed as long as we could to savor every last bite. After dinner we sat in the Ironwood Lounge near the fire were my husband enjoyed a beer while I sipped hot chocolate.
After a long evening of enjoying each others company we went back to our room to enjoy it more in our room. We ordered more hot chocolate to sip in bed before calling it a night. Rarely do I ever check into a place that we are staying and actually stay on the grounds. I’m normally out exploring the town and looking for things to do but The Lodge and Spa at Callaway Gardens is so amazing that you can stay right there and be completely happy.
The next day we enjoyed the breakfast buffet in The Piedmont Room before heading to enjoy Callaway Gardens. It was a chilly day but there is still plenty to see and do. My favorites being the biggest Vegetable garden I’ve every seen and the Butterfly gardens. In warmer temperatures you can enjoy a climb in the trees with the Tree Top Adventure or swimming at Robin beach. If you haven’t experienced the Fantasy in Lights yet you should make this a family tradition.
Like I said you can’t go wrong with taking a romantic trip or a family one done to Callaway Gardens. We have done both and it’s always such a great adventure. If you are looking for a luxurious resort to stay at in this relaxing environment I highly suggest The Lodge and Spa. You will get an experience like no other. I’ve never walked away disappointed.
