Safe Pumpkin Carving with Kids – #PumpkinMastersKit

20131017-105847.jpgWe love carving pumpkins every year. It’s something we do together as a family each year. It’s a longer process than you think though. Because you can’t simply buy a pumpkin and carve it up. Our family has been visiting the same pumpkin farm since I was a little girl. Long before I even moved to Georgia. My family goes every year to see the giant pumpkins and take fall pictures together. Some of the best photos we have of our family have come from our yearly trips to Burt’s Pumpkin Farm.

We pick out the perfect pumpkins at Burt’s each year and then bring them home. We then let the littles make a face on it. My husband then carves it up and scoops all the goop from the inside and uses huge kitchen knifes to carve it. So the kids can’t do much. But this year, we got to try out the Pumpkin Masters Kits. This year my daughter got to do most of it herself and she loved it!

Pumpkin Masters Kits can be found at most stores nationwide. Drug stores, grocery stores and Target and Walmart. They are so much safer to use than regular kitchen knives. Which means that the kids can participate in the activity more. They have Kids carving sets that are safe for children 3 and up! I was so pleased with these great kits. You could create lots of fun designs as well as some new trends that are taking off with pumpkin carving. Like shaving pumpkins and punching holes into the sides. Each kit comes with a handful of patterns and templates to help you create something amazing. After I got done with our two pumpkins I was ready to go to the store and get armfuls of pumpkins to keep making more. These kits make it incredible easy.

Right now, Pumpkin Master is having its annual Pumpkin Masters Carving Contest. All you have to do is share a pic of your carving via Instagram or Twitter with #PumpkinMasters2013, submit via the Facebook app or send via email to: social@pumpkinmasters.com to enter for the chance to win one of six prizes, including $5,000 for the Best Pumpkin.

Contest runs from October 1 – 31, 2013.

Contest details and official rules can be found here.

Check out how easy it was to carve our pumpkins with the Pumpkin Masters Kit!
