I love packing up the girls for a wonderful girls only weekend trip. Recently we took an excellent trip to Gatlinburg. When my husband has to work and can’t make it to some of our travel adventures I get to have some fun one on one experiences with them. It’s a short drive from Atlanta, and I love all the great things to do with your family. Not to mention, no matter where you go, there is a fantastic view of the mountains.
We were provided the Mazda 6 Grand Touring for the week to drive and give our honest review. I drive an older car that doesn’t have all the bells and whistles that newer models have so it was a real treat to try some of the new features. I’m always shocked to see the amount of trunk space in a sedan and the Mazda 6 is no different. There is plenty of space and even has bins on the side for more organization options. These bins are perfect for a first aid kit or jumper cables. The Mazda 6 was fun to drive through the Great Smoky Mountains because it handles like a dream. I’ve noticed that some new cars are super sensitive and turning the wheel or tapping the breaks doesn’t take much effort. I love driving so I like the tug of the wheel on the curvy roads. We decided to stop a few times on our trip to admire the beauty in the mountains. One minute you’re stopping at a creek in the valley and the next you’re pulling off a scenic overlook high in the mountains.
The girls loved all the room in the back seat but their favorite feature was the seat warmers that are available in the back seat. This is the first car I’ve seen with the option also available to passengers in the back seat. I didn’t think we would even the nice warming features until we returned from our trip and the temperature dropped and got really cold. Who knew that a steering when heater would be beneficial!
My favorite features in the Mazda6 were the Multifunction Commander control center. The safety feature that locks the screen while you’re driving and even offers a heads-up display that comes out above the steering wheel so that you don’t have to look at the center dash. There is a handy mouse in the middle that you can use to control the screen while you’re driving.
Cars these days have so many great safety features that come standard like blind spot monitoring. Another fantastic safety feature is the lane assist that will alert you if you start to cross the line and will even pull you back into place.
The Mazda 6 is a great family sedan. The sporty look is one that you can feel as well while driving.
