Share a Selfie with Your Daughter

My girls have very different hair, and they are equally beautiful. Squish has thin curly hair and depending on the day or weather they can be long a wavy or cute little ringlets. JaMonkey has straight thick hair that takes a good 10 minutes to brush. I love partnering with Dove to share their great campaigns to help boost confidence in our little girls. Dove has launched a fun page where you can upload a selfie with your daughter, and it turns it into a cute video that you can share. It’s a fun way to share your hair love with your little girl.

Did you know that Dove Hair found that 8 out of 10 women feel pressure to wear their hair a certain way? I see it in children too as young as 5 years old. I remember a day that JaMonkey came home from school, and there was a little girl in her pre-school that told her that if she wasn’t wearing a dress and had her hair styled nicely in braids that she wasn’t pretty. I was furious. More so at the mother who wasn’t doing more to teach her daughter that everyone is beautiful in their own way. Just the other day Squish asked me to straighten her hair to be more like her sisters and a died a little inside. I understand wanting to be like her sister, but at the same time, I know JaMonkey would kill for some curls. Their hair envy swings both ways. But I explained to her how beautiful her curly hair is as a reminder. I’m sure it won’t be the last time I’ll be straightening or curling one of my daughter’s hairs to look like the other.

Dove Hair believes that a positive role model, like her mother, can greatly impact a girl’s confidence. If she sees your confidence, then she will follow your example. A recent study found that 82% of girls learn to care for themselves from their mother. We are the ones they look up to for guidance. Having your own hair confidence is a great way to show that.

Tell her why you love her hair and inspire her to do the same by creating and sharing a custom #LoveYourHair animated message with and tag Dove.
