August 10th is National S’mores Day, my all-time favorite day of the year. It’s one of the official days of the year that I can put my S’mores board to good use. And this year the date falls within the first week of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games! Is there really anything more American than S’mores and Team USA? I’m working with HERSHEY’S, an Official Sponsor of Team USA, to celebrate this classic American treat by giving away a tasty S’mores Kit to enjoy with your family. To get you inspired, my girls are dedicating their S’mores to Team USA in Rio by sending a sweet “Hello” from home to our favorite athletes!
Team USA is made up of everyday teenagers and young adults with family, friends, and fans at home. As part of this Olympic Movement, people that have been rooting for them from the beginning of their Olympic journey are joining together to share “hellos” and other messages of support as they compete in the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. Having little girls, I always want them to find a role model to look up to, and the U.S. Olympic athletes are the perfect example of this. Their drive and determination have brought them to The Games this year.
I share the spirit of Team USA with my girls so they can see that not only can girls do anything, but if they keep practicing, they could be on their own journey to win a gold medal one day. Everyone has their own way to share their connection to Team USA; for me, it’s a mother hoping that one day I can cheer my girls on to the finish line or when they stick that landing. I watch the mothers of athletes in the crowd and can see how proud they are of their athletes.
Eating S’mores together is one of my favorite past times. Not because they are so delicious, but because the experience making them with my family truly warms my heart. We made some yummy strawberry S’mores together the other day and my daughter turned to me and said, “Man, HERSHEY’S chocolate is the perfect chocolate for making S’mores!”
Knowing that the Olympic Games are in full swing, we decided to make strawberry hearts to place on the top of our S’mores to show our love for Team USA. The girls had a blast making them. I used a little bit of melted chocolate on the top to make the heart stay put. We also placed some strawberries in our s’mores as well. I can’t believe we never thought to put fruit in them before. So yummy.
What is your favorite memory of eating S’mores? What will you be doing to cheer on Team USA as they compete in the Rio 2016 Olympic Games?
S’mores cooked in the the house? Yummy!
I have a confession to make…I’ve never had s’mores. Never in my life! These look delicious, especially with strawberries in them. I want to make these with my family!
ooooooh an inside dessert for S’mores. I love it. Perfect for rainy days, too.
