Disney’s Planes is high flying fun for everyone in the family. We (and lots of other adults) were all giggles watching the new Planes movie. A great underdog story that takes you to new heights in the world of Cars. Dusty Crophopper, a crop duster played by Dane Cook, dreams of competing as a high-flying air racer. But Dusty’s not exactly built for racing—and he happens to be afraid of heights. So he turns to a seasoned naval aviator who helps Dusty qualify to take on the defending champ of the race circuit. Dusty’s courage is put to the ultimate test as he aims to reach heights he never dreamed possible, giving a spellbound world the inspiration to soar.
If ever there was a movie built for 3D it’s Disney’s Planes. I’m not a fan of 3D movies but this movie was fun. It put me in Dusty’s cockpit during training and into the clouds during the race. I see a future Disney ride brewing. The all-star cast includes Dane Cook, Stacy Keach, Brad Garrett, Teri Hatcher, Julie Louis-Dreyfus, Priyanka Chopra, John Cleese, Cedric the Entertainer, Carlos Alazraqui, Roger Craig Smith, Anthony Edwards, Val Kilmer, Sinbad and Gabriel Iglesias. I hope the filmmakers weren’t scared of heights like Dusty because they spent time on helicopters and aircraft carriers to get an idea of the way planes fly. Propwash Junction is actually Leaders Clear Lake Airport in Minnesota, which was like a tiny airplane graveyard with a bunch of airplanes in various states of disassembly.” The small air field was surrounded by cornfields, which housed a number of old crop dusters and fuel trucks. “We found an old fuel truck tucked in some overgrowth next to a cornfield that was actually an inspiration for our fuel truck Chug,” says Hall (the director).
You’ll love everything about the movie. It’s certainly a fun one.
