The Nonsense Show is the latest book from Eric Carle. It is a book filled with funny mash-ups and, well, nonsense! The theme of the book is surrealism and it showcases this with creativity and imagination. Leaving children wondering what’s true, impossible, and absurd.

Eric Carle is one on my favorite children’s book authors and illustrators. So much so that I made some adorable needle felt pictures for The Very Hungry Caterpillar story. His pictures are always so colorful and full of texture despite the flat page.

I would love to see the origianls of any of his pictures just to see them in person. You’ll see funny mix ups like a bird in a fish tank or a fish in a cage.

The last page of the story is my favorite because it introduces kids to some funny words that can be tied together with surrelism.

Make sure you check out the 12 Days of Picture Book Giveaway happening now on the Penguin Young Readers Facebook page. Today they are giving away 10 copies of The Nonsense Show!
