The New Year is upon us! When you’re celebrating with your kids they like to celebrate just like you do. With this Very Berry Mint Sparkling Mocktail, they can toast to the New Year with you! We like to do a little toast before the kids go to bed each year since they don’t make it until midnight. We watch a countdown and light some fireworks off in the yard and the kids have sparklers to bring in the New Year together. It’s fun to celebrate each year and something they now look forward to as a family tradition.
In this recipe, I used Dasani’s Sparkling Water in Berry flavor. I love it because it is zero calories and unsweetened, making it a great choice for creating fun drink recipes. It is also caffeine free, so I’m happy to serve it to my kids. DASANI Sparkling Water is available at Walmart and comes in these great flavors: Lime, Berry, Lemon, Black Cherry in 12 pack of 12 oz cans

Here is what you’ll need for this drink recipe.
Dasani Sparkling Water in Berry
Simple syrup (1 part water, 1 part sugar)
Fresh berries (raspberries, blueberries, and strawberries)
Fresh mint leaves
Crushed ice
Start by dicing the strawberries up into little pieces. In a glass, add a few of each berries with crushed ice. Add
Next, take a whole sprig of mint and slap the leaves against your hand. If you just throw the mint leaves into the glass they will not release the mint oils that create the flavor. I learned this trick a few years ago when I went to the Coco-Cola headquarters and they brought in a head bartender to teach us how to make all kinds of fun drinks. He said you should never muddle leaves because it crushes them too much. The trick is to give them a good slap and it will release the flavors you want. You can test it out by smelling the mint before and after you slap it. It’s a handy little trick. Place a few leaves into your cup. I tore mine in half just to allow them to mix with the berries better.
Add in a splash of simple syrup and then pour in the Berry flavored Dasani Sparkling Water. I say to add the simple syrup to your taste but truthfully I liked the drink without any in at all, but again it’s your drink so make it as sweet as you love it.
