We’re Building a ShedQuarters

With more and more advancements in technology, more people are choosing to work from home via teleworking, or simply freelancing as their own business. My family being one of them. My husband can work from home but he likes going into the office so he can shut his office door and not be bothered. Since I work from home while taking care of my kids, I’m limited to where I can sit down to get work done. Which is why I showed my husband the rising trend of at home office built in sheds in the back yard or as I like to call it, the shed-quarters. It’s separate from the house but has it’s own power and closing doors. It’s perfect for those that can’t add onto their house or have no desire to move. Which is exactly where we are in our lives. We LOVE where we live and the size of our mortgage, but we just need one extra room. For the first time in history, my husband agrees with me and thinks it’s a fantastic idea. I say that because rarely does my husband think spending any amount of money is a good idea.  Screen Shot 2015-06-14 at 12.52.47 PM

So like anyone with an idea does now-a-days, I started a Pinterest board to help plan my Shed Office. They make pre-fabricated modern looking sheds from different companies, but they are all well out of our price range and countless people said that we could make the same thing ourselves and cut the cost. My husband has already said that we are going to gather the materials that we need, make plans and get permits, and then have a “raising the barn” party with a bunch of his friends and our fathers. That’s where everyone comes over and we grill and drink beer while building our DIY shed as much as possible in one day. With all hand on deck, a lot can get done. I’m terribly excited and I’ve already started saving for the cost.

This post is sponsored by RYOBI; however, all thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.

It’s totally a guy thing to get together and build something together. You don’t see many girls getting together to craft. It cracks me up when they get that little glimmer in their eye that they need to build something (or sometimes destroy something). Power tools, ar-har-har! It reminds me of this video from the RYOBI Nation about building a Party Station because their bored. What cracks me up about the video is that random guys show up to help build, neighbors, and guys just walking by. It’s like the power tools are the mating call that brought them all to the yard!

Right now, RYOBI Nation is hosting a contest where you build your own custom Party Station for a chance to win $1,000 in RYOBI power tools, plus every entry will receive a free t-shirt. You can download the plans for the Party Station right from the RYOBI Nation website. Then, customize it any way you can possibly think of. Would you include TVs, a huge sound system, games, maybe a water bowl for your dogs? It’s completely up to you! It’s your party, right? Then head back to enter the contest. The contest ends June 30, 2015.

  • A sheadquarters is a neat idea! I love the idea of getting everyone together to help make it happen! That would be alot of fun! I have seen quite a few Facebook posts about the She Sheds.

    Firebird
    really liked it
Firebird is a solid dark romantasy read. You have dragon-shifter political leaders of Rome. A witch who I don’t think we have seen the full extent of her power yet. There were so many little side stories told that I believe our FMC will ...
    Sunrise on the Reaping
    it was amazing
Oh Haymich, my heart is shattered for you. This was the perfect bridge between The Ballard of Songbirds and Snakes and Catching Fire. Linking the wickedness of The Hunger Games with the victors who came together to end them. If Suzanne C...
    Some Like It Scot
    liked it
This was a sweet romance read. I really enjoyed the audiobook narrators (Joshua Manning and Stina Nielsen). I don’t usually read books that fall into the religious category, but I’m a sucker for Scots and Irishman so that is why I wanted...
    My Demon Hunter
    really liked it
I am thoroughly enjoying the Hell Bent series. My Demon Hunter was even better than My Funny Demon Valentine. I’m a sucker for demonology stories, and these are filled with all kinds of interesting characters. This one features a plus-si...
