Everyone loves to get together for Thanksgiving and stuff their faces with loads of amazing foods and drinks so that we can get comfy on the couch and sleep it off while watching football. My family is certainly no different. Not that we need to wait until Thanksgiving to do that.
There are a lot of starches and savory dishes during Thanksgiving. So making sure you pair it with the right wine will round out the meal.
We enjoyed the Mezzacorona line of wines from the Italian Dolomites
Pinot Grigio: The most popular white wine in Italy. Pinot Grigio is made from the Pinot Gris grape. It is a white wine that pairs with extremely flavorful and high-fat foods. If you use a lot of garlic, herbs and onions this is the white you want. Most recipes I use have all of these in large amounts. This wine has a high acidity
Pinot Noir: Is a black wine grape. Red wine is a favorite on Thanksgiving because of the earthy undertones and flavors that surround the fruit features of the wine. This creates a pop of fruity flavor that pairs beautifully with a thanksgiving meal.
Mascato: Getting it’s name from the Muscut grape. Round out your meal with dessert of course. A slice of pumpkin or pecan pie and a glass of Mascato. Mascato is a sweet wine that is packed with fruit flavors. Make sure you serve it well chilled.
Whatever the wine you choose make sure you enjoy every minute with your family. It’s about coming together and creating great memories together.
