If you’re looking for a feel good movie to see with your kids during the summer, then you need to put The BFG on your list. I took my oldest to see it this week, and we were delighted with how awesome it was. My daughter is a tough critic too. Most movie reviews include a shoulder shrug and a, “Yeah, it was pretty good.” But The BFG was another story. She turned to me and said, “Mom, That was REALLY good. Like surprisingly good.” I honestly think it was the best review that she’s ever given. We didn’t get a chance to read the book before we saw the movie but she is interested in reading it now.
The talents of three of the world’s greatest storytellers – Roald Dahl, Walt Disney and Steven Spielberg – finally unite to bring Dahl’s beloved classic “The BFG” to life. Directed by Spielberg, Disney’s “The BFG” tells the imaginative story of a young girl and the Giant who introduces her to the wonders and perils of Giant Country.
You and your family will be in a fit of giggles just listening to the giant speak, but when the Frobbscottle comes out you’ll have a whizzpopping good time! Especially watching the Queen try Frobscottle for the first time. The entire theater erupted into laughter. Make sure you check out this great Frobscottle and Snozzcumber recipe!
But what I loved the most after watching the movie was how good I felt. Steven Spielberg really captured this movie perfectly. It is a true feel good movie the whole family can enjoy. Brush up on your Gobblefunk before you go see it.

In Roald Dahl’s book, the giants eat the people in the city and Spielberg felt that was too dark. He wanted something more family friendly 🙂
