I’ve now seen Zootopia twice. Yes, it is that good. I took the girls to go see it at the Dolby Cinema at the AMC Prime here in Atlanta and it was quite the experience. I’ve also seen the movie in 3D, which I am not usually a fan of but Zootopia was done right so I suggest seeing it in both formats.
If you see it in Dolby Cinema, you’ll be able to feel the train moving under your seat while getting the striking colors on the big screen.
We got to wear some fun headbands to make us look like Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde. The girls were excited about being able to recline and relax while they watched the movie.
Don’t they look spoiled rotten. They were cracking me up. Peanut even raised the armrest and snuggled up with me.
I love that Disney didn’t give the plot and storyline of Zootopia away in the trailers. We only knew that Judy Hopps was the first bunny cop. Her story dives deeper though. Actually, the whole Zootopia story dives deep into something that we’re are currently dealing with in our country as well. Whether it is women’s equality in the workforce or racial relations (in the form of prey vs predator), it tackles issues we currently deal with on a level children can relate too. I hope my girls walk away from this movie knowing they can be anything and also that everyone needs to be treated with respect.
Ginnifer Goodwin and Jason Bateman nail the voices and I think they really brought these characters to life better than anyone else could have. My favorite scene is the sloth scene though, I was dying the whole time. My husband and I joke all the time about how my daughter is the slowest eater on the planet. She is always chatting and off in lala land instead of eating. She is at the table the longest and we are always getting a to-go box for her. My husband says she is bound to be a government worker, probably at the DMV. So I showed him this clip and we both had a good laugh about it.
The modern mammal metropolis of Zootopia is a city like no other. Comprised of habitat neighborhoods like ritzy Sahara Square and frigid Tundratown, it’s a melting pot where animals from every environment live together—a place where no matter what you are, from the biggest elephant to the smallest shrew, you can be anything. But when rookie Officer Judy Hopps (voice of Ginnifer Goodwin) arrives, she discovers that being the first bunny on a police force of big, tough animals isn’t so easy. Determined to prove herself, she jumps at the opportunity to crack a case, even if it means partnering with a fast-talking, scam-artist fox, Nick Wilde (voice of Jason Bateman), to solve the mystery. Walt Disney Animation Studios’ “Zootopia,” a comedy-adventure directed by Byron Howard (“Tangled,” “Bolt”) and Rich Moore (“Wreck-It Ralph,” “The Simpsons”) and co-directed by Jared Bush (“Penn Zero: Part-Time Hero”), opens in theaters on March 4, 2016.
